The Arnolfini forms a prominent an iconic landmark within Bristol’s historic docks and serves as major centre for contemporary visual and performing arts and serves as a corner-stone for Bristol’s dynamic and vibrant arts scene. As a public space for contemporary arts and learning, the Arnolfini offers an innovative, inclusive and engaging experience for all offering a programme of dynamic contemporary arts and learning. In collaboration with local and international partners, and through dialogue with audiences, they seek to support, champion and present work by living artists that are celebrated, unseen, emerging or rediscovered.
Commissioned by the Arnolfini in 2015, we are developing a series of smart interventions to provide an enhanced audience experience through the reinvigoration the public circulation spaces, shop and café as well as the development educational and resource facilities and a new coffee bar on the upper floors.
The project also involves the refurbishment of the existing exhibition spaces including the provision of new services and fabric enhancements required to achieve stringent museum quality environmental control.
We have also been appointed by the University of the West of England (UWE) to better integrate its Art and design Faculty located on the upper floors of the building with the Arnolfini public spaces - this includes the creation of a direct connection between the UWE entrance and the Arnolfini foyer at ground floor level and the provision of a new lift and staircase.
